café@church is a Biblically-based, culturally relevant church with a passion to reach people in the Niagara community with the Word of God, to help them build a lasting relationship with Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and to walk along side them as they grow and serve and worship God.
Pastor Glenn’s story is all about following Jesus Christ and the twists and turns He leads us through in life. Born into a Salvation Army Officer (Pastor) home as the youngest of three, and having to move throughout this great country provided Pastor Glenn a much larger perspective in understanding life in various communities.
Christ prepared Glenn for pastoral ministry again through the twists and turns of academia and professions. He started with a Diploma from Centennial College in Radio & Television Broadcasting and subsequent work experience in Advertising to another Diploma in Social Service Work from Mohawk College and practical work with Social Services within the Ontario Government and then Corrections.
Through the social work experience, God placed a strong call for full-time pastoral ministry into Glenn’s heart and thus he enrolled at McMaster University to pursue his seminary training to be prepared for pastoral ministry. Glenn completed undergraduate bachelor degrees in Sociology and Gerontology and then completed his Master of Divinity from McMaster (Hamilton). Later on into Glenn’s ministry career, the Lord provided Glenn an opportunity to complete a Bachelor Degree in Education from York University (Toronto) which allowed him to teach. He enjoyed several years of contract teaching in various high schools.
Christ continued to lead Pastor Glenn through varied church ministry from being an associate Pastor of a large mega church in the GTA, to church planting in a suburban university city and then developing and establishing an English Church within a Korean Community Church in Toronto. He was then called to Niagara to serve as a lead pastor of a large church in St. Catharines and then for a brief time re-planted a struggling church in Woodstock.
The Lord led Pastor Glenn and his family to serve at café@church in 2009. He has been able to use both his unique professional experience and his varied church ministry experience in order to be a part of the Lord’s special plan to reach the Niagara community with the Gospel.
Glenn and his wife Tracy and their five children Jared, Meredith, Felicity, Ethan, and Graham enjoy the ministry of café@church together.
Who We Are
Our mandate is to live out the Great Commandment and to fulfill the Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:18-20.
“Love the Lord your God with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
The Church is the Body of Christ
“…for we are members of his body.” (Ephesians 5:30)

Build a biblically-based, culturally relevant community church to reach the unchurched of Niagara.
We see people seeking, finding and encountering Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour. We see them developing into fully committed followers of Jesus Christ.
We see a church which puts people before programs and relationships before human rules.
We see a community of people endeavoring to love, serve and encourage each other in such practical ways that the world marvels at this kind of love.
We see a church living out God’s purposes.
café@church began quite humbly in 1922 with a Sunday School held in the old school house formerly located at Thorold Road and Wilson Road in Welland. The Sunday School continued to grow and eventually became a congregation called “The Church of the Open Door”, holding their first regular service in 1934.
In that same year construction began on the first church building. In 1948 the name was changed to Calvary Gospel Church and two years later we joined the Associated Gospel Church of Canada.
The church continued to grow to the point where a new building was required, the current location at 735 South Pelham Road.
In 1987 the sod was turned again for the addition of a gymnasium and in 2001, a second building program included an expanded foyer and a new insulated roof for the auditorium.
In January of 2009 we adopted the name café@church and introduced a fresh new vision for reaching the unchurched people of Niagara. Come and join us on the journey!
